Başakşehir is a large planned district in northwest European Istanbul, characterized by newer residential communities, wide roads and substantial public infrastructure. Central Başakşehir and Kayaşehir contain modern apartment compounds, while Bahçeşehir offers landscaped neighborhoods around parks and ponds on the district's western side. The M3 metro serves parts of Başakşehir, but the district covers a wide area and some addresses remain car-dependent. Residents have access to shopping centers, schools, sports facilities and the Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital. Property is dominated by recent apartments in managed sites, alongside duplexes and villas in lower-density communities. Foreign buyers often look here for newer construction, family-sized layouts and facilities that would cost more in central Istanbul. Başakşehir generally suits families seeking planned surroundings and contemporary amenities, especially when work or school is on the western side. Buyers focused on historic character, waterfront walking or a short central commute may prefer another district.
